What's in the name?

Wikipedia defines Bokeh like this:

  • Bokeh (from the Japanese boke ぼけ, "blur") is a photographic term referring to the appearance of out-of-focus areas in an image produced by a camera lens.  Different lens bokeh produces different aesthetic qualities in out-of-focus backgrounds, which are often used to reduce distractions and emphasize the primary subject. The effect itself is the circle of confusion, an image of the aperture convolved by the image itself.

Yes, a lot of technical jargan which involves a lot of math to really make sense of it all.  But you don't need to worry about that.  We at Bokeh Photography will  take care of applying the right amount of focus to your special portraits to place emphasis on just the right things to capture the moment.

But if you are like us, and find great pleasure in understanding the details; please read on.  A good read is Wikipedia's definition of the "Circle of confusion."
